At Lago Resort Menorca, we work every day to reduce our environmental footprint and create a positive impact on our surroundings. Our approach translates into concrete actions: reducing CO₂ emissions, responsible waste management, lower potable water consumption, and strong social engagement.

This commitment is reflected in a sustainability plan, supported by official certifications such as Menorca Biosphere Reserve, the ISO 14001 certification, which certifies the quality and effectiveness of our environmental management system, and the verification of our carbon footprint, which allows us to measure, control, and transparently reduce our emissions.

For us, ISO 14001 represents much more than an accreditation: it is a tool that allows us to identify, control, and continuously improve all environmental aspects related to our hotel operations. It helps us integrate sustainability into every operational decision, ensuring legal compliance, resource efficiency, and respect for Menorca’s natural environment.

Waste reduction

· Elimination of single-dose food and other uses.
· Elimination of plastic containers.
· Use of compostable garbage bags of plant origin.
· Elimination of posters and paper documentation.
Use of technology to digitize all hotel services.
· Comprehensive waste separation. From the hotel rooms themselves, to the general facilities.
· Own water bottling through specific osmosis and blue filter equipment.
· Coasters and soles of the staff's shoes made with recycled materials from the sea.

Photovoltaic Energy

MENORCANARIA S.L., within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), through the Investment Plan for the Energy Transition of the Balearic Islands (PITEIB), has received aid from the European Union of €25,140.00 charged to the NextGenerationEU Fund, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, for the project called “INSTALLATION OF PHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY FOR SELF-CONSUMPTION CONNECTED TO THE GRID WITHOUT BATTERIES, ON ROOFTOP, WITH SURPLUS, WITH COMPENSATION AND A POWER OF 80 kWn”.

Within the incentive program linked to self-consumption and storage, with renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of renewable thermal systems for the residential sector of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, managed by the Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory of the Government of the Balearic Islands. The main objective of our photovoltaic installation is to reduce our carbon footprint and promote a more sustainable future. Thanks to the subsidy from the European Union, we have been able to carry out this initiative and we are very grateful for their support.
